Muddy Archive is a collective investigation into the material, geological and cultural life of soil. Developed by students of the Material Ecologies: Surplus studio at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, the archive brings together fieldwork, documentation, material samples, drawings and prototypes to reveal the materials and processes that usually remain hidden beneath the surface of construction.
Muddy Archive is a work in progress, a record of samples, observations, experiments, failures and possibilities. It invites us to look more closely at what lies under our feet and to imagine another relationship between architecture and the ground from which it emerges.
