3RW arkitekter

Bergen-gruppen
November 4th – December 4th, 2005

The portfolio of 3RW architects demonstrates astonishing versatility and breadth, including large-scale urban planning projects, commissions for national tourist routes as part of the promotion of "the original" Norway as a product, and specialization in adapting existing buildings for new uses. All of these projects are rooted in their desire to emphasize architecture as a socially oriented endeavor.

The Bergen group represents a new wave of Norwegian architects with national and international success.

3RW places great importance on participating in various networks and sees developing projects across disciplinary boundaries as a crucial aspect of being an architect today. This approach also leads to projects that are not traditionally considered architectural.

In the exhibition at ROM for Art and Architecture, 3RW addresses questions that have been central to several of the firm's recent projects. This includes, to some extent, very different projects: analysis-oriented projects on a regional/national scale are juxtaposed with smaller, locally oriented projects that address the challenges faced by 3RW architects and the solutions they propose.

As a whole, the exhibition is also an exploration of the changes in the role of the architect resulting from a broader and more inclusive professional focus.
