Queer Mechanics: Skate + Bike Repair Drop-in

Verksted
Søndag 21. mai 2023
Kl. 11.00 - 15.00

Do you have something that needs to be fixed and you’re not quite sure how? Drop by Queer Mechanics on Sunday 21 May!

With spring on the way, the focus of the day is bikes and skateboards, but if you have a burning desire to learn how to fix something else, just send Kjetil a message in advance and they will make sure to bring the right tools for the job. Feel free to stop by and stay as long as you like to learn from others, or come at 13:00 for an informal conversation about buying tools, and how to modify them to work better for your body.

Hosted by Kjetil Wang (they/them) since 2018, Queer Mechanics intervenes in the hypermasculine space of mechanics, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and community building. Kjetil can do many things, some of them quite well. They have worked with cars, bikes and skateboards for over two decades, sometimes professionally.

Get in touch with Kjetil on Instagram @kjetilwang or by email kjetilwang@hotmail.com if there’s something specific you want to learn about or fix.

This event is part of the public programme that activates the “Dissident Publics: Future Artefacts of Queer Methodologies” exhibition space. The project is supported by the Arts Council Norway (Kulturrådet), Nordisk Kulturfond, Bergen kommune, Vestland fylkeskommune, L’Institut français de Norvège, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Riga, and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Paris.
