ROM seeks art projects that investigate neighbourhoods.

What is the significance of neighbourhoods today, and how can art affect our understanding of future neighbourhoods? Based on ROM's premises in Maridalsveien, we are looking for projects that examine neighbourhoods in a broad sense. To succeed with the social and environmental challenges we face, we have to rethink how we structure our immediate environment, both socially and physically. What values ​​underlie our neighbourhoods, and how can we facilitate a diversity of perspectives to be expressed? These are some of the questions we seek to shed light on through a number of art projects in and around our premises in Maridalsveien.

The project is part of Oslo Architecture Triennale (OAT) 2022 and is a collaboration between OAT, ROM and Master program Art and Public Space at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO). With the working title "Mission neighbourhoods - (Re) forms of community", the triennial explores how we shape the places we share and focuses on the neighbourhood as a place and horizon to think new about our cities.

APPLY WITH PROJECT: DEADLINE: 20 Januar 2022

ROM is looking for projects that can be included in or around an exhibition during the fall of 2022. Parts of the exhibition have been developed in collaboration with students and professors at MAPS (KHiO). Various events are planned throughout the year, leading up to the exhibition project. The project can therefore have many different formats and does not necessarily have to take place in the fall.

Do you have a text you want to write? Are you thinking of a lecture you want to hear? A workshop you want to run? Display? Podcast? The project can take the form of anything. Submit preliminary ideas (about 200 words) in the application form by 20 January. After the first round, we will contact a selection of applicants for a more and complementary project description. Feel free to attach a pdf with relevant projects and CV (max 10 pages + CV, max 10 MB)

About Master program Art and Public Space (MAPS)
The master's program Art and Public Spaces at the Oslo Academy of the Arts is one of the world's leading programs that offer two years of intensive full-time education for artists, focusing primarily on contemporary art, theory and public spaces. Our students are socially engaged interdisciplinary artists who work within various mediums in, about or with the public space as an artistic practice. We define public spaces broadly and expandingly within ecological, socio-political and socio-economic contexts and relevant topics within the current public sphere.
