This summer, we are offering a film course! You will learn to create your own film about Oslo. We will have various group activities and learn more about the city, neighborhoods, and architecture. It doesn't matter if you have any prior knowledge about the subject or filmmaking. The summer school will be an educational and enjoyable experience for everyone!

ROM UNG: Sommerskole (2021), Ninthu Paramalingam & Skjalg Molvær, Arkitekfilm Oslo 2021

Through the course, children will develop their understanding of both film and architecture and have a platform to express their ideas, skills, and attitudes. We aim to create a group with good dynamics and diverse backgrounds to showcase a wide range of perspectives.

Practical Information:

- The summer school takes place in week 26 (June 28th to July 2nd).

- Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 15.00.

- The course is free of charge, but spaces are limited.

- The deadline for registration is June 14th, and all participants will be offered a spot or placed on a waiting list shortly after the deadline.

- We can cover transportation costs to and from the summer school. Please indicate if you need this assistance or any other transport-related support.

- The summer school will be conducted with measures in line with the current COVID-19 guidelines.

The summer school is organized as part of ROM Ung and Arkitekturfilm Oslo. The course will be led by our project manager, Ninthu Paramalingam, and film producer, Skjalg Molvær, with assistance from volunteers.

Course instructor Skjalg Molvær is passionate about inspiring others to make films and has conducted courses for over 2000 students in recent years. He holds a film education from the United States and ran his own company there for 11 years before returning to Norway. Skjalg has versatile experience in all aspects of film production, from script development to cinematography, directing, and editing. He has produced various types of films, from commercials to feature films and documentaries.

Project manager for ROM Ung, Ninthu Paramalingam, has a bachelor's degree in human geography and has worked as a teacher, environmental worker, and personal support contact. She has a diverse background, including experience from Oslo Museum, RadiOrakel, and solidarity work both domestically and internationally. As an activist and writer, Ninthu is one of the driving forces behind "Reduser husleia" and the Instagram account "@min_drittleilighet".
