Open Call: We need talk about diversity

Open Call
Deadline 15 August 2020

We need talk about diversity and representation in the Norwegian architecture field.

What kind of context do representation have within the field of architecture? Do you have a text you want to write? Is there a lecture you would like to listen to? Perhaps a workshop you want to hold? Exhibitions? We are inviting architects, writers and others to elevate this theme in a meaningful way, that hopefully can result in actual changes. But perhaps most importantly: it is critical to develop a method and a common language when talking about representation. This has been lacking in the Norwegian architectural discourse.

The events around the Black Lives Matter movement has been a necessary wake-up call for us as an institution. We have to examine whose voices have not been visible or heard in our program, and why. There have been public statements the last weeks from different groups who has shared their stories about not being represented and facing discrimination.

At ROM forlag (ROM publishing) you can read Tina Lam’s text “From the Other Norwegians”. The text is the beginning of a process to enhance the conversation about representation, and strengthen diversity, and we want to hear from you.

Send preliminary proposals (ca. 200 words) to gjertrud@r-o-m.no within 15 August 2020.
